It’s been awhile, but I’m reminded what I like about you

Talk about true romance, yes I’ve quoting Ramones on that one. :) When I was 14, I picked up the guitar and my mom actually surprised me with a classical guitar. I treasured that thing like no other, despite its scratch marks and it’s several restringing efforts. I actually wish I can play the guitar better, but i just know very little and basic strumming escapes me.
HOWEVER, since we started this bible study, we all made a pact that we would be bringing our best to the table. That includes our culinary and desert making efforts, our schedules and time, our music and worship, and any and every talent and spiritual gift we’ve been given.
Since our guitar player is back in college, we have to make do with the basic knowledge we had at chords and strumming. Worship just really stems from the heart and singing praise songs is no different, it’s just natural and beautiful, without any artificiality or fakeness. It’s not meant for human admiration or applause, but really just for God and his awesome glory.
I kind of miss jamming with my friends in youth group and also band practices with college friends (had some guy friends who had all the band instruments in their condominium unit so we’d spend a lot of time at their place). One of them just placed first on his architecture board exams (congratulations!). I miss my friends, but I’m thankful for all the new people i get to meet because it just means more conversations and more learning. :)
What I like about worship is that somehow, no matter how we feel, God still is faithful and deserves our praise. Worship is very freeing and very humbling at the same time, because it is really all about Him. So I’m having a return of the callouses moment here (especially with an acoustic guitar, sigh) but I’m loving it.
