Book Review: Purity’s Big Payoff
Purity’s big payoff: True stories about love that waited is a book compiled and edited by Donna lee Schillinger that contains a collection of stories that discuss a growing concern among teenagers and young adults today. It is a book that contains stories about love that truly waited and kept the marriage bed pure until the couple’s wedding night and on the flip side (literally!) contains stories wherein individuals recount on their past mistakes and how it led to consequences that they faced because of it. It is a realistic take on a growing concern among today’s youth: Why did God ask us to keep ourselves sexually pure? The book provides biblical scriptures that support sexual purity as well as facts, statistics and real-life reflections that give us different perspectives from people who have experienced similar feelings, emotions and situations. However, the common and ever message that rings from every page is that God designed sex to be enjoyed in marriage and did not dangle it from us unmarried folk in order to torture us, but rather to protect us. Schillinger makes that point very clear and the contributing writers provide very honest and heartfelt stories of repentance.
I would recommend the book to teens, parents, educators and ministry leaders. The format is very easy to read, and the layout of the book is pretty neat! The two sides, purity and premarital sex, divide the book in half and premarital sex is a flip part of the book.
I received a free copy of this book from BookCrash in exchange for a review. I was not asked to write a positive review in exchange for a copy, but choose to write a review that is constructive, honest and helpful to other consumers.
