Book Review: Fierce Beauty

Fierce beauty is a book written by Kim Meeder that encourages women to stand up bravely and be the warriors that God created us to be. The book chides christian women who sit back and enjoy being entitled princesses when we were meant to live for so much more! Meeder uses elegantly crafted prose that borders on the poetic, includes short and inspiring anecdotes of women of faith and includes bible verses that we can go back to and meditate on after reading the book. She also includes confessions and important events of her life that are just so honest and heartfelt that it jumps from the pages. The inspiration to this book is not absent from its pages, it screams out something along the lines of “Through Christ, everything is possible and mold me into what you want me to be.”

She redefines beauty through biblical lenses and includes a painful moment from her past that proves that God does bring beauty from ashes, but he needs us to surrender that and our whole being to his masterful hands. She writes from a very realistic standpoint that faith is a process that each individual goes through and may involve key events at several different times. Meeder is very generous in providing inspiration through the Bible and through several key people who has also expressed a desire to live out as according to their true beauty.

This book is an easy read, very inspiring and very humbling! I recommend it to all the women who have wondered about trials, pain, hope, love and all those emotions that seem to take residence in our hearts.

I received a free copy of this book from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for a review. I was not asked to write a positive review in exchange for a copy, but choose to write a review that is constructive, honest and helpful to other consumers.
