Now this is a kind of crafty we can do…

It is truly amazing how creative people can get. Give pieces of colored paper, pipe cleaners and glitter to a group of people and they will come up with several different kinds of artwork. It shows how unique individuals can get.
Feeling as if you’re not a crafty type of person?
Tip #1: Explore patterns and colors outside of your comfort zone?
If you’re the white paper and black ink type of artist, try to explore metallic pens, pastels or crazy wacky paper to invent cool shapes and sizes.
Tip #2: Buy from thrift stores or sales
Thrift stores are usually brimming with crafts that people buy and somehow do not get to do. They have a lot of old books and magazines, yarn, frames, glasses, buttons, etc that are just going to give you ideas.
Tip #3: Recycle
Back issues of time magazine or consumer reports are filling up my storage closet and one can always make use of the color in them to make cool things such as colorful fans as brooches. Another idea is that you can use used paper to make textured scrapbook paper.
Tip #4: Experience out-of-this-world materials
Ever tried using sandpaper for scrapbooking? Colored sand instead of glitter? You can even try using natural dyes found in vegetables like lemons and beets to make paint.
Tip #5: Make use of special events and holidays
As a child, my mother always encouraged me to make cards for family and friends instead of buying them. She also encouraged me to write to friends I had in the US at that time. It’s a joke that I don’t have much paintings and artworks of my own because they’re usually with somebody else. It’s a good way to share a smile to other people and it’s a sweet thought!
So, try it or better yet bug a friend of yours who is a well-known crafty soul. You’ll probably pick up a bunch of tips from her/him as well.
